Meet Judy Stokes
Over the year we’ve introduced you to our team…and today we’d like you to meet Judy Stokes.
Her part in the team is to bring you the weekly newsletter. She finds snippets from the art world you might enjoy and generally keeps you up to date with the comings and goings of Print Art. Judy found her niche as a creative photographer, when after a career in music, she got behind a camera and discovered you could create images that looked more like paintings. She was hooked!
During this time Judy was living in Muriwai and spent many hours honing her skills – practising on seascapes and gannets.
Now living off grid in Northland, on a wild seaside cliff with her man, dog and rescued horse, Judy continues to spend a lot of time with nature as the creative inspiration for her imagery. Having grown up as a competitive sailor she feels a bond to the ocean and is drawn to using it in her work. Still being a keen kitesurfer Judy also gets to feel what she calls ” the salt in her bones” and while on the water loves watching the light play with it – something she tries to capture later with her images.
Sitting down and creating the newsletter is a highlight of the week for Judy. Firstly it means she gets to sit…which is always a treat in between the many jobs to do on the land – planting trees or releasing trees from kikuyu grass …as well as learning the ins and outs of looking after an ex race horse. Another bonus of the job is the friendly contact with the rest of the Print Art team. Most of all however, Judy loves to guess what you…the reader might like to find out about and she tries to give you a varied mix!! She enjoys the feedback you give and loves sharing any events you have on the go.
