The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its renowned New Photography series with the launch of New Photography 2025: Lines of Belonging. The exhibition explores the concept of belonging and community in a world increasingly defined by connections and shared histories.
The latest exhibition, brings together the work of 13 international artists and collectives from four major global cities: Johannesburg, Kathmandu, New Orleans, and Mexico City. This milestone exhibition offers a diverse range of photographic work, featuring artists at various stages of their careers. Each artist presents distinct bodies of work that weave personal narratives with broader themes of colonial history, environmental change, and the social structures that shape our understanding of community. “Love is the key that takes cultures from oppression to joy. As a political unifier, the contract—love—takes on a liberating force,” artist Sabelo Mlangeni has said. Some of the artists weave personal stories within broader political histories to explore intergenerational memory. Others reimagine the idea of the archive to disrupt narratives of the past and imagine future communities.

Where Colour Lives

Announcing Meg Gaddum’s large solo exhibition in Morrinsville.
It covers much of the last 3 years work in her studio on the shores of Ōhiwa Harbour.
It’s her fourth solo but this one is the largest ever with about 50 paintings.
She paints in oils with bespoke cypress frames, building a sustainable art practice.
Please share with friends and family you know love art.
Starts this Tuesday and runs 3 weeks to 10 August

Bio: Meg Gaddum grew up on a remote Gisborne farm, surrounded by nature and art. Encouraged by artist relatives, she began painting early, inspired using vivid materials like French pastels. Though a science career led her into agriculture, horticulture, and a master’s in landscape architecture, she ultimately returned to art. Self-taught through books and online courses, Meg now paints abstract landscapes that reflect environmental and social themes while aiming to evoke joy. She lives with her husband and dogs by Ohiwa Harbour, exhibits at art shows, and sells her work from her studio. Her art blends observation, critique, and beauty.
